Element5 Office

Element5 is working to reduce the construction industry’s carbon footprint through their mass-timber products. Their new office space will serve dual purposes – as a sustainable work environment for company staff, and as a space to showcase their sustainable construction methods.

Utilizing mass timber frames and beams manufactured in the company’s adjoining St. Thomas production facility, the new space will provide staff with a compliment of 24 workstations, multipurpose spaces, and private offices, all spread around a centrally-located kitchen and café.

A wood ceiling and large windows will provide staff and visitors alike with a light filled, warm and inviting space. The use of glass for interior partition walls separating private and communal spaces will ensure that all areas of the office have access to natural light. The kitchen and café spill out onto a courtyard that is created between the production facility and the new office, featuring a living a wall, which further connects the interior and the exterior spaces – as well as users to nature itself.

On the exterior, the wood structure is prominently showcased while being protected from the elements thanks to a carefully considered cantilevered roof.
